Property in the Rhone Alpes

Situated in the South East of France, sharing borders with both Italy and Switzerland is the stunning region of the Rhone Alpes. Home to some of France's most spectacular scenery, the market for property in the Rhone Alpes has become increasingly competitive in recent years, as people look to capitalise on the huge tourism industry throughout the region. In particular, the hugely popular ski resorts of Chamonix, Les Arcs, Tignes and Val d'Isere are synonimous with the winter sports lifestyle.

During the winter period, the Rhone Alpes is home to some of Europe's premier ski resorts, and huge numbers of visitors from throughout Europe to descend on the large numbers snow capped peaks and slopes.During the warmer summer months, the Rhone Alpes become an alpine wonderland, characterised by the regions stunningly beautiful valleys and woodland forests. In particular, large number of hikers visit the Rhone Alpes during the summer period, to enjoy what are widely acknowleged as being some of Northern Europe's most picturesque mountain trails.

Further west, away from the more mountainous alpine regions, there are many other destinations within the Rhone Alpes worthy of consideration if you are looking to purchase. In particular, the forests and vineyards of the Beaujolais region are a great place to explore, and a wide range of outdoor activities from cycling to hiking, can be enjoyed there.

Understandably, the year round tourist trade has resulted in a considerable demand for investment property in the Rhone Alpes region, however the slightly higher than average property prices are more than offset by the increase demand for short term rental accommodation throughout the area. The price of property in the Rhone Alpes region does vary considerably depending on the area, and can range from around €1,800 per square metres to upwards of €3,400 in the some of the most fashionable destinations of the Haute Savoie.
