Situated north of the Portugal's river Tagus, lies the picturesque Blue Coast, or Costa Azul region. Offering some of the best beaches to be anywhere in the country, the region has become increasingly popular with tourists over the past few years, as people look to sample this beautiful and diverse part of Portugal.
In comparison with more populated regions of Portugal, the Costa Azul is still relatively undiscovered by overseas property investors. As such, the region still retains an traditional charm, characterised by the small local fishing villages which can be found along this stretch of coastline. For fans of seafood, the local tavernas provide some of the best food to be found anywhere in Portugal.
As well the superb beaches and excellent cuisine, the Costa Azul is home to a number of other activities and attractions including the famous Arrabida National Park, approximately 11,000 square kilometres of breathtaking scenary, full of a huge varieties of flora and fauna. Further south lies the stunning white sand beaches of the Troia Peninsula, where the deserted beaches stretch as far as the eye can see.
Over the past couple of years, a number of excellent new property developments have been launched in the Costa Azul, including the superb new resort at Palmera Village. For fans of golf, there are a number of excellent courses throughout the region, many of which can be found on the luxurious new golf resorts.
