Dubai Airport Posts Double Digit Growth
Dubai International Airport, the world’s 5th busiest in terms of international passenger traffic has posted three months in a row of double-digit growth in terms of international passenger numbers and is set to break the existing record with more than 40 million passengers expected before the end of 2009.
DIA is the only airport amongst the world’s ‘Top Ten’ to report significant passenger traffic in the face of the global recession. As Dubai is now approaching its key tourism months the passenger numbers could well be more impressive than expected. Emirates Airline’s major route expansion plan is set to further drive visitor numbers to the Emirate.
Dubai Airports anticipates a rise of 13.6% in 2010. It is not just the passenger activity which is flourishing, Dubai’s air freight movement is also keeping it firmly within the Top 5 destinations of the world. The Emirate’s open skies policy means that it is better positioned that many other international destinations for growth in passenger and cargo volumes.
The figures are a further boost for the Dubai property market, which relies heavily on the rapidly expanding tourist sector for overseas demand.
