Emirates hotel industry set for real growth
There are 54 hotel projects currently under construction in Dubai alone, according to STR’s Vice President for Content Management, Duane Vinson. Contrary to much of the incorrect speculation, Dubai hotel visitor numbers have actually risen, year-on-year, by 5%.
There is no doubt that tourism continues to be the major driver of Dubai’s economy and this is creating a continuing need for expansion in the tourism infrastructure of the Emirate. The ongoing investment into Dubai’s hospitality sector is a reflection of investors’ ongoing confidence in the medium to longer term growth opportunities in the Emirate. By the year end Dubai and Abu Dhabi will jointly have 75,000 hotel rooms according to The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.
Undying confidence in Dubai’s tourism sector is driven by the fact that it is one of the world’s safest tourist destinations with more international flights, superior airports and the brand new state-of-the art Metro system.
