Large increase in mortgages in Turkey say Conti Financial Services

Turkey Property New figures released by one of the leading overseas mortgage specialists have shown a considerable increase in demand for mortgages in Turkey in comparison with the same period in 2009. The figures, which were released by Conti Financial Services, have shown that demand for mortgages in Turkey in fact doubled for the same period last year.

The figures released by Conti Financial are in line with the large increases in demand for property in Turkey for 2010. Record numbers of visitors travelling to Turkey have resulted in the destination now being ranked amongst the world's top ten tourist destinations, despite the more challenging economic conditions across the Eurozone region. Contrary to the global trend of contraction in tourism figures for 2009, Turkey saw an increase in tourism demand of 4.3% for the period, resulting in a considerable increase in demand for property throughout the country.

Clare Nessling, Conti's operations director, says: "These factors, combined with low interest rates and some bargain property prices, have made Turkey increasingly attractive, as well as more affordable, for UK buyers. Property purchase costs and taxes there tend to be lower than other popular hotspots. Accessibility is important too and the country has a wide choice of airports which are well served by flights from the UK. Bodrum, for example, is only half an hour's drive from the international airport."
